The “Dans Le Noir” experience
My desire to experience Dans Le Noir started when I watched the movie “About Time”. I must confess I might be a little of a romantic. Sometime in February 2020, I decided to travel before April.
In the past, I had already tried to have dinner at Dans Le Noir twice but both times I couldn’t get a reservation. This time I made my reservation a month in advance at the London and Paris locations.
I arrived around 11:00 am on Feb 28th at the Heathrow Airport. I immediately headed to the Wombat’s London Hostel. Nice hostel with a cool bar and game room.
The rest of the afternoon I spent my time working and joining meetings, since I was not taking vacation days :). I must confess that it is really nice and convenient to be able to work remotely. I feel very thankful to work for Microsoft.
Around 7:30pm I was excited and curious, so I started preparing myself for my 8:45pm reservation for 2 people. Unfortunately my friend couldn’t join me but I decided to go on my own. I told myself that It would be fine since It wouldn’t be my first time going to dinner alone, but I was a little mistaken.
After taking an Uber I finally arrived, I was welcomed by a group girls coming out of the restaurant, who were laughing and seemed to be having fun, and said they had a great dinner.
Once I checked in, the host asked me what I wanted for dinner and I given 3 choices (Fish, Meat or Vegetarian). I chose meat but didn’t really know what I was going to eat.
Around 10 minutes later I met my blind waiter and was asked to place my hand on his right shoulder. We headed inside the room and immediately went pitch dark. I couldn’t even see my own hands. All I could hear were voices around me .
